School-supply lists grow to include some unusual stuff

Many parents watched something grow over the summer besides their kids: their school-supply lists.
Thanks to the weak economy and school budget cuts, a growing number of schools that once asked families to supply only academic-focused items such as paper, pencils and notebooks now are asking them to also send with their students items such as hand sanitizers, wipes, facial tissues and — at one school — shaving cream.
