Consumer Action and AT&T launches wireless education initiative (Chinese)
隨著科技的進步以及無線通訊器材的普及,越來越多消費者會使用到無線的數據服務,不過雖然很多人使用這項服務,但卻未必知道服務的收費標準,直至收到一張高額賬單時才會醒覺。為此消費者行動與AT&T聯手推出一個全國性的社區教育計劃,讓消費者可以透過上網或相關資料來作為參考,作出最適合自己的選擇。 這項名為WirelessED的宣傳計劃,會由消費者行動負責製作一套多語教材,包括英文、中文、西班牙文、韓文等,教材內包括三本手冊以及一系列的培訓講義,這些教材主要會在團體講座或一對一諮詢時向各個社區的非牟利機構提供,從而透過這些社區機構進一步將有關資訊傳播出去。 消費者行動方面表示與全國8千多個非牟利機構之間有聯絡,預期這次將有多達20萬名弱勢群體的消費者從中受惠。 除了教材與手冊之外,消費者行動還透過網站WirelessED.org宣傳有關的資訊,網站內還特別設立了許多不同的工具,讓消費者計算和追蹤數據用量,同時會提供一些非牟利性質的無線數據資訊與服務資源,同時亦會列出各大通訊公司向消費者所提供工具網站的直接鏈接。 消費者行動行政主任Ken McEldowney指出,現在人們日常生活中已經越來越需要使用到無線通訊器材,不過沒有人希望每個月收到一張令人大吃一驚的高額賬單。為此,這次的宣傳教育計劃會指導消費者如何善用各公司與用戶之間的交流工具及資料,來評估消費者每月的數據用量,同時亦會教育消費者如何明智選用無線通訊服務及器材,並且會詳細介紹國內和國際數據服務的收費指標。 AT&T資深副總裁Charlene Lake則在聲明中指出,消費者對於自己所使用無線通訊器材和服務的瞭解越多,則所獲得的消費權益亦越高,為此AT&T非常樂意繼續提供最新的資訊管道來協助所有用戶,同時亦非常樂意支持消費者行動以及WirelessED計劃。 消費者行動會從今年6月開始,分別在三藩市、亞特蘭大(Atlanta)、候斯頓(Houston)等城市陸續開展與社區組織進行的培訓會議,有社區外展部介紹如何善加利用各種教材來協助消費者。這些手冊內容包括無線數據的定義、可監測用量的隨身應用軟件及工具、國際漫遊區域、如何選擇合適的無線通訊器材、以及最新款智能電話相關資料和最適合消費者個人使用的通訊器材等。 手冊會以英文、中文、韓文、越南文、以及西班牙文印製,消費者可致電諮詢熱線1-415-777-9635瞭解詳情,或上網www.WirelessED.org,推特(twitter)上可在搜索欄輸入「KnowUrWireless」,臉書(Facebook)上則是facebook.com/wirelesseducation。 本報來自星島日報。 -
